The 109th edition of Fisherman’s Feast - Boston’s oldest continuous Italian Festival – features an enticing mix of entertainment, food, street vendors and traditional processions. Held in Boston’s North End district, the event honours Madonna del Soccorso (Our Lady of Help) and the ancient local fishing trade. The highlight each year is a religious procession through the narrow streets carrying the Madonna Statue, ending in a grand finale known as Flight of the Angel, which sees a young girl dressed as an angel ‘flying’ out of a third story window and down to the Madonna. After a short prayer she is raised back up to the window to the cheers of the crowd and showers of confetti. Visit www.fishermansfeast.com for a full list of events as the festival nears.
